Holiday Marketing Tips
1. Plan your event three months in advance.
Reasons for three months in advance
People typically start buying holiday products one month ahead.
Products require manufacturing time, taking 15–25 days from production to delivery.
To sell these products, you must promote and inform existing customers that the items are now available online.
Use your imagination to design your products, whether shoes or clothing. The design time varies per person but takes at least a week.
Product design (7 days) + product manufacturing and shipping (15-25 days) + customer booking (30 days) = 52-62 days.
This calculation doesn’t include advertising planning, so three months is ideal.
Choose the theme of the event
The event theme is often the heart of the occasion. Whether promoting a festival or everyday products, you must establish the theme. The right theme can yield unexpected benefits.
For example, with Christmas approaching, you might design Christmas-themed items like hats and socks.
Clear the selling price
The selling price should ensure you still make a profit.
Product cost plus advertising cost equals the selling price. You need to maintain a profit margin of at least 15%.
(Product cost + Advertising cost) * (1 + 15%) = selling price.
2. Marketing through multiple channels
2.1 Facebook and Instagram
These platforms are often used to test video novelty. If your video is engaging enough, you can start an online store to sell products here, but they tend to favor influencers over regular users.
2.2 TikTok
TikTok has significantly more active users than other social media and attracts many buyers. Videos posted here can garner more attention and even reach millions of views.
2.3 Pinterest
Sharing your designs or product posters on Pinterest can attract potential audiences. This platform is where most artists seek inspiration.
2.4 Google Ads or Facebook Ads
When running search ads on Google, conduct keyword research to avoid high-competition, expensive keywords. Use Google Keyword Planner for assistance—just enter the keywords and select your target country.
Facebook Ads are more of an active promotion method. Determine your target group’s interests in advance.
2.5 SEO
This is not an easy task for a novice. You need to know your competitors, keywords, and keyword intent. For most sellers, the searcher intent of keywords should be “transactional.” This type of keyword is generally easy to obtain on product pages, so you need to optimize your product listings.
3. Email marketing
Email marketing is a cost-effective way to retain existing customers rather than find new ones.
Send emails to customers who have purchased from your store to inform them of holiday promotions or new product releases.
3.1 Email Automation (Add to Cart/Abandonment):
When you run ads, you’ll encounter questions like whether customers added products to their carts but didn’t complete the purchase.
In such cases, send an email with a coupon code, ensuring the discount is greater than the initial one. For example, if your event discount is 15%, your email discount should also be at least 15%.It’s important to ask for feedback, as factors like price, payment errors, or forgotten payments can impact customer decisions.
